village church

Village Church was planted out of the evening service at Mitchelton (Latechurch) in July 2009. It is part of the mpc network, and has the same vision and dna as the rest of the mpc network, even while it expresses it slightly differently because of geography.

Derek Hanna is the team member you’ll see most often up the front at mpc Village Church. He studied at Sydney Missionary & Bible College and has been part of the mpc family for over 4 years. Derek is married to Jacqui and they have 2 young boys. He loves coffee, football and cricket – preferably all at the same time.

On Sunday nights we get together to pray, sing, read the bible and talk about what it means, meet new people and encourage each other, with coffee and supper afterwards. The first Sunday of each month we also go out somewhere for dinner together. We’d love you to join us.

Being part of the Presbyterian Church, the direction and overseeing of Village Church is done by “Elders”. The Elders that represent Village Church (along with Derek) in the wider mpc network are Tim Kuswadi and Steve Mason. They’re great guys, and you’re encouraged to have a chat to them if you have any questions about how things work or where we’re going.

Throughout the week, Village Church is a community which seeks to encourage everyone to look out for and support each other. Practically, much of this happens through Growth Groups. So the Growth Group Leaders are the people who facilitate & encourage much of the support of those at Village Church. So if you have an issue, are struggling with something or want to know how to get more involved, Growth Group leaders are great people to talk to.

We love kids at Village Church, but if you’re struggling with a 5pm time slot, or are looking for a kids program (like Sunday School), why don’t you check out either the morning services at mpc or one of our affiliated churches at Wilston, Clayfield or Wavell Heights?
