At Toowoomba Vineyard Church we have a heart for our littlies and want them to enjoy the teachings and fellowship of church just as much as (if not more than!) the grown ups.
We believe kids church isn’t just a babysitting gig, nor is it classroom lessons on a Sunday. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the unique and wonderful kids in our church to grow into and explore their own ideas about faith and Jesus. This is all while developing relationships with each other, the leaders and most importantly God!
Our goal with our bible teachings is to introduce the kids to the transformative kingdom of God through the life and teachings of Jesus. We want to set our kids up for the future by giving them a lens through which to read the bible when they explore on their own!
We have started using a resource called One Story, which is all about looking at the Story of the bible—the story of a God who loves us and who sent his son Jesus to restore a relationship between God and humanity.
A typical Sunday begins with some outside play time which gives the kids time for some fun as well as chatting and building relationships. Next we have some snacks, and then a bible lesson where we encourage the kids to engage and ask all their big curly questions! NO question is too big or small when you’re young and we believe that giving kids a space to ask their questions encourages them to reflect and develop their own faith when they get older! We try not to end every week with more craft for the parents to take home but make no promises that it won’t happen from time to time 🙃
While our heart behind kids church will remain the same, our current outline and planning is flexible to adjust to changes in size and venue! In the near future we’re keen to set up a program for our high school kids to give them space to be discipled and to grow as young Christians. We’re excited to see what the future may hold for this space.
If you have questions or are keen to volunteer get in touch with me through the church email or chat to me on a Sunday!
